College of the Arts

The College of the Arts (COTA) at California State University, Long Beach is one of the largest and most comprehensive state-supported arts schools in the country with more than 4,000 students enrolled in six outstanding departments: Art, Dance, Design (Industrial and Interior), Film & Electronic Arts, Music, and Theatre Arts. The College offers more than 400 events each year, drawing approximately 200,000 patrons to the campus. COTA venues and organizations include five student and community performance halls, five student art galleries, the University Art Museum, the 1100-seat Richard and Karen Carpenter Performing Arts Center, and a theatre located in Downtown Long Beach. COTA also serves as the administrative home to the California Institute for the Preservation of Jazz and the Center for First Amendment Studies. Professional degree programs offered by the college include the Bachelor of Science (Industrial Design), Bachelor of Fine Arts (Art, Dance and Design), Bachelor of Music, the Master of Music, the Master of Fine Arts (Art, Dance, Design, Theatre Arts), and a new MFA/MBA degree.
