SUBJECT:    MASTER OF SCIENCE DEGREE IN SPECIAL MAJOR

The following policy statement, recommended by the Academic Senate at its meeting of December 6, 1979, approved by the President on January 17, 1980, and approved by the Chancellor's Office on February 22, 1980 is as follows:

MASTER OF SCIENCE DEGREE IN SPECIAL MAJOR

The Master of Science Degree in Special Major is instituted.  The designation on the Master's degree awarded (M.A. or M.S.) in the Special Major is limited to the Master's degree designated available in the department in which the thesis chairman is a faculty member.
