The BeachBoard mobile website allows you to view News and Content items, read and post Discussion messages, and check Grades for your courses on your mobile device. To submit to the Dropbox, review feedback, email classmates, take quizzes, and access Online Rooms, please access BeachBoard on a desktop or laptop computer. Note: use of BeachBoard and its various tools is entirely up to the discretion of the instructor.
Within your mobile device's browser, navigate to the BeachBoard log in site: bbcsulb.desire2learn.com.
Enter your Beach ID# (username), Beach ID password, and click Log in.
There are several ways to navigate through the mobile BeachBoard site.
The first page you see when you log in to the mobile site contains a consolidated list of all your courses' news items. To read an item in full, click the arrow to the far right of the item. To load more items, click "Load more..." at the bottom of the page.
To return to this main page at any time during your session, click on BeachBoard in the upper left hand corner.
To access a particular course at any time during your session, click on the arrow to the far right of the tools icon. This will display a drop-down list of all your courses. Click on the title of the course to select it.
Once you have selected a course, you will be taken to the course's home page. The title of the course is listed in the gray bar near the top of the page. To navigate within the course, click the tools icon in the upper left of the page. Then select the desired tool. To log out of the mobile site, select Logout from the tools menu.
All of the News items for your courses are consolidated and listed on the first page when you log in. To read the full text of an item, click on the small arrow on the right of the item. To load more News items, click "Load more..." at the bottom of the page.
When you are within a course and wish to view the News items for that course, click the tools icon in the upper left and then select News from the list of tools.
To search for a News item, type your search into the Search bar and click Go to the right of the bar. To include any dismissed News items in the list, click the Include Dismissed check box in the top left of the page. To read the full text of a News item, click on the arrow to the far right of the item.
To dismiss a News item (hide it from your view in the future), click Dismiss in the bottom right corner of the News item when viewing the full text of it. When finished, to return to the course's main News page, click News in the upper left.
Note: The ability to successfully view Content items on a mobile devices varies by device and what other programs (such as PDF-reading software) are available on that device. If you cannot view a Content item on your mobile device, please try viewing on a desktop of laptop computer before contacting your instructor.
When you are within the desired course, click the tools icon in the upper left and then select Content from the tools list. This will bring you to the Content Table of Contents page.
To view your previously marked Bookmarks, click Bookmarks at the top of the page. To open a Content module, click the arrow to the far right of the module title.
To view a Content item, click on the arrow to the far right of the item's title.
HTML pages will display in the frame and links should redirect to the appropriate website. Files such as Word documents, PDFs, etc. should, depending on the device, be able to be downloaded and viewed by clicking on the file. To Bookmark the Content item, click the bookmark icon at the top left of the page. To navigate to the next/previous Content item, use the forward/back arrows at the top right of the page.
When you are within the desired course, click the tools icon in the upper left and select Discussions from the list of tools. This will bring you to the Forums and Topics page.
Search for a forum/topic with the Search/Filter bar or simply click the arrow to the far right of the desired forum/topic in the Forums and Topics list.
Once you are in the topic, click Compose in the upper right to compose a post, or click Reply underneath the post you wish to reply to.
Give your post/reply a Subject, then compose the text of your post in the Message box. When finished, click Save.
When you are within the desired course, click the tools icon in the upper left and select Grades from the list of tools. This will bring you to the Grade Items list page.
To view the details of a grade item, click on the arrow to the far right of the grade item's title.
What you see in terms of feedback, grade, points, average, etc. depends on the settings the instructor has enabled and if they have graded the item or not. Any questions about your grades and grade items, please contact the instructor.
To access the Desktop version of BeachBoard on your mobile device, navigate to the main page (click on the "BeachBoard" in the upper left) and click Desktop Version at the bottom of the page.
