Software Depot Installation Policy CSU, Long Beach participates in the CSU-Microsoft Campus Agreement. It is a program coordinated by Academic Technology Services. The license requires division, department or college technologists to install Microsoft products, such as Microsoft Office 2010 for Windows, on university-owned workstations. Contact your division, department or college technologist for assistance.
Ordering

Faculty and staff may purchase Office 2010 for Windows from the University Computer Store for when using personally owned computers used primarily for university business.

Students may purchase the product from the University Computer Store.

Product Details

Computers running Windows XP must have Service Pack 3 to use Office 2010. Use the manual activation process for these machines. Computers running Windows 7 activate automatically.

  • The Word 2007 Equation editor is common to all applications, replacing MS Equation 3.0
  • New SmartArt templates
  • New text and image editing effects
  • Screen Capturing and Clipping tools
  • Live collaboration functions
  • Jumplists in Windows 7
  • New animations in Powerpoint 2010

Activation

Volume Activation 2.0 (VA2) is a new volume license activation requirement for Microsoft products, including Microsoft Office 2010. It requires activation of each Microsoft Office 2010 license acquired under a Volume License agreement. VA2 is designed to help increase protection and to help better manage the Volume License keys in managed and non-managed environments as well as provide flexible deployment options. The process has varying levels of transparency for end users, and the VA2 solution works in a variety of environments. VA2 provides the campus with two types of keys and three methods of activation.

Special Activation Instructions for Windows XP SP3

Follow these instructions to activate Office 2010 if you are using Windows XP SP3 as an operating system:

  • Open a command prompt
  • Type in ONE of the following commands, pressing the "Enter" key after:

cscript"%PROGRAMFILES%\Microsoft Office\Office14\ospp.vbs"/sethst:lats-kms1.lats.ad.csulb.edu
OR
cscript"%PROGRAMFILES%\Microsoft Office\Office14\ospp.vbs"/sethst:lats-kms2.lats.ad.csulb.edu

  • Type in the following command, pressing the enter key after:

cscript"%PROGRAMFILES%\Microsoft Office\Office14\ospp.vbs" /act
