SPECIAL PHYSICS SEMINAR

Spectroscopy and Structure in Two Flavor QCD

Joseph Day

Institute of Theoretical Physics, University of Graz, Austria

Friday, February 7, 2012, 12pm, in HSCI-103

We report results from a study regarding the spectra and properties of light-baryons within a relativistic two flavor quantum chromodynamic (QCD) model. The (linear) confinement is taken according to the QCD string tension and the (flavor-dependent) hyperfine interaction is derived from an effective Lagrangian resulting from chiral-symmetry breaking. In general, the spectra are reproduced in good agreement with known phenomenological values for ground and excited states. In addition we find strong agreement with regards to structure and electroweak properties.

For information and suggestions about the Physics Seminars please contact the coordinator:
Name: Dr. Robert (Bob) Woodhouse, or Prof. Prashanth Jaikumar
Phone: (562) 985-5592
Email: Robert Woodhouse, or prashanth.jaikumar@csulb.edu

For the colloquium please visit the colloquium page.

Physics Seminars

are "brown bag seminars" where we discuss in an informal setting new developments in the research groups at the department, in the physics community, or concepts to which a usual lecture cannot devote enough time.

Theses defenses

Each Master's student should present in about 30min his/her thesis. Announcements are made on this page.
