Alumnus Zanaida Robles will present her dissertation research on Afro-British composer Samuel Coleridge-Taylor at the national conference of the National Association of Negro Musicians in July.
BCCM Piano Technician Kathy Smith and David Vanderlip were invited speakers at WestPac IV (fourth annual conference of the newly-formed Western and Pacific Piano Technicians Guild regional convention) from Feb. 27-March 2. Their topic was be “Grand Action Rebuilding”.
Rena Urso-Trapani has been invited to present a Body Mapping class at San Diego State.
In February, she served as guest artist at the Los Angeles Flute Guild’s 2014 Flute Festival, where she presented a Body Mapping class, and performed on the guest artists’ collaborative recital.
Alicia Doyle (musicology) was invited to guest lecture on music and notation at Bancroft Middle School on February 20th in the “accelerated” sections of 7th grade Medieval World History.
Roger Hickman gave a two-hour presentation on “Soviet Film Music” for A Festival of Soviet Culture: Russian Music, Art, Theater, Dance and Film c.1930-1953 at Chapman College.
