Big Brown Music Machine Alumni Band Performs

The Big Brown Music Machine Alumni Band performed their annual show at the CSULB basketball game vs UCSB. The Big Brown Music Machine was CSULB’s marching band. Former Associate Band Director Gordon Norman was guest conductor. The band performed in the 1977 Rose Parade and at the 1980 Edinburgh Tattoo Festival.

The Big Brown Music Machine came to an end in 1990 when funding cuts led to disbanding the Long Beach State football program.

 

Eugene Migliaro Corporon inducted into Bands of America Hall of Fame

Alumnus Eugene Migliaro Corporon has been inducted into the Music For All – Bands of America Hall of Fame. Music for All is one of the largest and most influential national music education organizations.

The Hall of Fame recognizes individuals who have had a positively life-changing impact on Music for All’s Bands of America programs and music education.

Mr. Corporon is the conductor of the Wind Symphony and Regents Professor of Music at the University of North Texas. He has recorded over 700 works.

Axel Clarke as Ringo in Beatles Tribute Band

Alumnus Axel Clarke is currently touring with a Beatles Tribute Band (yes, Axel is Ringo) in a Beatles vs Stones throw down.

In April, the band, Abbey Road, begin touring “In My Life – A Musical Theatre Tribute to the Beatles.” They’ll play Abravanel Hall in Salt Lake City UT, as well as other stops in AZ, UT, ID MT, OR, and WA

Run River North Profiled in Wall Street Journal

Run River North with BCCM violinist Jennifer North was profiled in the Wall Street Journal. Their first album was released in February and they played to a sold-out Troubador for their release party.
As is noted in the article, “The band devoted the past year to writing new songs, recording an album and building its fan base. This year, after touring across the U.S., the group will perform in several countries in Asia, where Warner Music Group will release its album.”
