Melisandra Teteris Invited to Cleveland Latvian Concert Association

Melisandra Teteris (MA Musicology) has been invited to perform (all expenses paid, plus a sizable honorarium) as the horn soloist at the meeting of the Cleveland Latvian Concert Association on March 16th in Cleveland, Ohio. She will be performing a recital of all Latvian music for solo horn and piano.  Most of the pieces that she will perform are not currently published and she is the only person in the U.S. with access to them. She acquired this rare music while attending a festival in Sigulda, Latvia.  This recital will be the U.S. premier of many of these pieces.

BCCM at CASMEC

BCCM was well-represented at CASMEC (California Association of School Music Educators Conference) the weekend of Feb 22-24. Dr. Jonathan Talberg taught at the Second Choral Leadership Academy. In addition, he co-presented a session entitled “Amazing Repertoire that Works: High-Quality Literature for Middle School and Beginning/Intermediate High School Choirs” for several hundred music educators. Jeff Jarvis served as conductor of the California All-State Jazz Ensemble in Fresno last weekend. Christine Guter and Pacific Standard Time (PST) were featured performers.

Beach Cafe!

An amazing array of talent from Bob Cole Conservatory students will receive its semi-annual showcase in Beach Cafe on Friday, February 15 and Saturday February 16. Both shows are at 8:00p in Daniel Recital Hall.

This long-running event is all student run; they audition, rehearse, and perform under the guidance of officers from the CSULB Chapter of the American Choral Directors Association. It is always loaded with fun, surprises, laughs, and great music making.

As the Daily 49er has said, “If you were’t there, what a shame! The show was filled with good entertainment from beginning to end. It didn’t matter what your definition of good entertainment was, The Beach Cafe had something for everyone.”

Admission is $10 for the general public and $7 for students. Coffee and homemade desserts are included.
