BCCM Trumpet Ensemble Invited to National Trumpet Competition

The BCCM Trumpet Ensemble has been invited to the semi finals of the National Trumpet Competition for the second consecutive year. The members are: Casey Martin, Devin Henderson, Kurt Peregrine, Drew Ninmer, Esther Hood, Tony Belletti and Jackson Niebrugge. Congratulations to these amazing players and to their coach, Rob Frear.

John Barcellona in Concert

On Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, the Caliendo/Barcellona Duo presented workshops at La Sierra High School in Tollhouse, CA (band director Bruce Weinberger – CSULB 1980) and presented a concert for the Auberry Community Concert Series.

Jay Mason Performing on Films and for Nat’l Tours

Adjunct Saxophone Instructor Jay Mason performed in the pit orchestra for ‘The Addams Family’ National Tour at Segerstrom Center for the Arts from 12/18 to 12/30/2012, and played on the soundtrack for ‘Monsters University’, and soon to be released ‘Gangster Squad’ at Sony Pictures.

Chamber Choir and PST on tour

 

The Bob Cole Conservatory Chamber Choir and Pacific Standard Time are on tour Sunday, January 13 – Friday, January 17. They’ll be performing a concert of jazz and classical music.

Their schedule is:

Sunday: MiraCosta College, Oceanside
Monday: Red Hill Lutheran Church, Tustin

Tuesday: First Methodist Church, Santa Barbara
Wednesday: Soquel High School, Soquel
Thursday: Trinity Presbyterian Church, San Carlos

All concerts are at 7:00pm. Come out and hear them on tour if you can!

Nathan Stark in Giovanni

Nathan Stark begins work on a production of Don Giovanni, schedule for two performances on February 8th & 9th with Opera Grand Rapids. He’ll be singing the role of Leporello, the ridiculous man-servant to the famous ladies man. You can see Don Giovanni in our own BCCM production later this semester.

Nate will also be making his Metropolitan Opera onstage debut this coming Fall. He’s not at liberty to share which opera he sing in until the MET publicly announces their 2013/2014 season.

Desha Dunnahoe Orchestrated Oscar-Nominated Film

A recent film Desha Dunnahoe orchestrated, “Kings Point,” is nominated for an Academy Award in the Best Short Documentary category. This is the second film she’s orchestrated for composer Miriam Cutler that has been nominated in this category. The previous one was “Poster Girl” in 2011.

Craig Richey Completes Film Score

Craig Richey recently finished the score to The World According To Dick Cheney, a Documentary by RJ Cutler, director of The War Room and The September Issue (which he also scored).

The film has been selected to premiere at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival. He has been invited to appear at the Festival on a BMI Composers Roundtable panel that explores the creative relationship between composer and director. A Sundance Institute Fellow (a graduate of the 2006 Composers Lab), Craig first appeared on this panel at Sundance 2006, and at Sundance 2011 collaborated with other Composers Lab Alumni in a live scoring event organized by composer Rolfe Kent.
