Alumnus Ivan Shulman on surgical mission in Nepal

Alumnus Ivan Shulman is on a surgical mission in Nepal. Ivan is a general surgeon and has been conductor of the LA Doctor’s Symphony for over twenty years. His thesis on the Second Symphony of Charles Ives won Outstanding Graduate Thesis award in 2008.

He is with a team of doctors largely from Honolulu but they have surgeons from all over the US with a wide range of specialties with them. In addition to performing surgeries for free for those in need, they have been training Nepalese doctors. He has previously participated in a number of surgical missions to Africa, Latin America, Oceania, the Philippines and Mongolia. BCCM is thankful that our alumni include such remarkable humanitarians as Dr. Shulman.
