Tom Peters, double bassist, is an active performer, playing as a member of Southwest Chamber Music, Ensemble GREEN, and the Long Beach Symphony Orchestra. He has premiered several solo works for the bass for such composers as Alexandra Shapiro, Robin Cox, and Stephen L. Mosko. In January 2003 Tom completed a solo recording tour and in Germany as well as a recording of Hanne Darboven’s Wunschkonzert Op. 17 and 18 , a four hour, four CD project to be released on Los Angeles River Records in 2004. In 2000, Tom both premiered and recorded Stephen L. Mosko’s Darling for solo double bass, an award winning work that had been considered unplayable for more than 25 years. He has been on the faculty at California State University, Long Beach since 1997. Tom is a graduate of the Eastman School of Music, and has studied with James VanDemark, Warren Benfield, and Jeff Bradetich.
