The program includes the Brandenburg Concerto No. 1—J.S. Bach, Danza de Hercules—Tielman Susato, Oboe Quartet in F Major and Clarinet Quartet in A Major—W.A. Mozart, London Trio No. 3—Joseph Haydn, Dance of the Blessed Spirits from Orfeo ed Euridice—C.W. Gluck, Overture to Il Signor Bruschino—G. Rossini, and excerpts from The Fairy Queen—Henry Purcell, edited by Mark Alpizar. Several of the BCCM's Choral, Vocal and Opera studies majors will join the Collegium.

New Music Ensemble and BCCM Singers perform CronÓpera

CronÓpera is inspired by and intended as an homage to influential writer Julio Cortázar in the year of his centenary, this is a children's story for five characters, and children's choir, orchestrated for a chamber instrumental ensemble of flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, violin, cello, and percussion.

University Brass Ensemble

The University Brass Ensemble presents its annual Spring concert featuring Fanfare for the Common Man, Pictures at an Exhibition, Concertino Classico for two Trumpets, and the Anthony Plog Concerto for Trumpet, Brass, and Percussion.

Soloists include: Michael Sullivan, Devin Henderson, and Evan Walsh. Conducted by Rob Frear.

Stephen Salts and Stacy Oh, graduate conductors.

The program is titled Of Life & Liturgy as it is evenly split to represent both secular music and sacred music and features the BCCM Chamber Choir, performing works by Eric Whitacre, Claudio Monteverdi, Johannes Brahms, and John Corigliano with Stacy's Recital Orchestra. The University Choir will perform works by Benjamin Britten, Francisco López Capillas, Jonathan Dove, Arvo Pärt, Edvard Grieg, Anton Bruckner, and Gabriel Jackson.

Caribbean Extravaganza: Massive Band 2014

You may be asking what is Massive Band? Massive Band is the largest collection of steel drums ever assembled on the West Coast. The first concert was in 2000 and featured 121 steel drummers. On April 27, 2014, we are doing it again. The concert will feature more than 100 steel drummers from all over Southern California, including the CSULB Steel Drum Orchestra (Dr. Dave Gerhart, director), Cabrillo High School (Drew Holt, director), Campbell Hall Steel Drum Orchestra (Jason Bruns, director), Westminster High School (John Whatley, director), Lakewood Steel (Amanda Duncan, director), Rusty Steel (Linda Franz, director), and Granada Steel Drum (Jennifer Stampfl, director). The concert will also feature International Pan Virtuoso Andy Narell in a rare Southern California appearance. The program will include a diverse repertoire ranging from Soca, Calypso, Reggae, Latin and music by Andy Narell, including The Last Word. You may buy tickets before the show at CSULB Arts Ticket Office or at the CPAC Box Office on the day of the show. You won’t want to miss this show!
