Piano Service Request

If you are experiencing an issue with a BCCM piano or if you have dropped something inside a piano, please fill out this form.

Piano Service Issues

There are three main service issues with pianos (there are others).

  1. Tuning—tuning is only related to sound (pitch). People often say the piano needs tuning because the key is stuck down or doesn’t play. The piano doesn’t need tuning for these issues. Tuning is only sound/pitch, almost everything else is mechanical.

  2. Mechanical issues—The key is stuck down. The key won’t play. The pedal doesn’t work. The sound keeps ringing and ringing after the key is released. There’s a gong sound (broken string), the list goes on and on. If there is a mechanical issue it is very important to know which key(s) are the problem. The diagram below shows how to identify the key(s). It’s important to describe the issue, a few examples are listed above, there are many more.

  3. Piano keyboard illustration with numbered piano keys.

  4. Something has been dropped inside (usually a grand). This happens all the time and isn’t usually a problem, but it can be. This should always be reported to avoid possible problems. Please specify what was dropped inside. Please never try to remove an item yourself. Pianos have had unnecessary and irreparable damage done to them because of non-technicians trying to do this.

Piano Service Request Form

Please fill out the form thoroughly and describe your issue as best you can.
