Completing the Process

Now that you’ve received, and accepted your financial aid offer, you should do the following to ensure timely disbursement of your financial aid.

Sign Up for eRefund

CSU Long Beach provides all financial aid refunds through a secure, automated deposit directly to your checking or savings account. This process is called eRefund, and all financial aid recipients are required to enroll.

Financial aid funds are first applied toward any outstanding University charges. Any remaining funds will then be issued to you through the refund process.

If you are not currently signed up for eRefund, please visit MyCSULB to complete the process which usually takes less than 3 minutes. You will need to have your account Routing Transit number and Account number, both of which can be located on your check or savings deposit slip.

To enroll in eRefund

  • Login to MyCSULB
  • From the Student Center, select “Enroll in eRefund” located under the Financial Aid heading in the “Finance” section
  • Select “Yes, I want refunds deposited directly into my bank account;” click “continue”
  • Enter the requested information and follow the on-screen prompts.
  • Once completed & submitted, a screen will display showing your eRefund status as “enrolled.”

You will receive a confirmation email once you have successfully enrolled in eRefund.

PLEASE BE AWARE: Failure to sign up for eRefund in a timely manner will significantly delay your receipt of funds. Until sign up is completed, you will receive a paper refund check mailed to your address on file in MyCSULB. It normally takes at least 10 to 15 business days to receive a physical check. eRefund is a much timelier and secure method as funds are typically available in your bank account within 48 hours.

For more information on the eRefund enrollment process, including screen shots, refer to the Using MyCSULB Guide for eRefund signup.

Report Other Sources of Funding

If you will be receiving other sources of funding that are not included on your award summary, you must notify us in writing of the source and amount of each award (i.e., departmental or outside scholarships or a fee waiver). We will issue you a revised electronic notice if other awards need to be adjusted based on this new information.

Federal and California State Regulations require CSULB to consider all resources/sources of aid when determining your awards. Failure to notify us of awards in advance could result in you being over-awarded and having to repay aid received in excess of your cost-of-attendance (or financial need). Prompt notification of awards not listed on your award summary can prevent potential over-awards.

Complete Direct Loan Steps (1st time borrowers)

If you have been offered, and accepted, a Direct Stafford Loan, you may need to complete additional steps in order for your loan to disburse and credit your student account. These steps will only need to be completed the first time you borrow a Direct Stafford Loan at CSULB; you do not need to do them for subsequent years.

PLEASE NOTE: Financial Aid Offers are based on FULL-TIME enrollment. The amount of aid that is disbursed will be based on your need AND enrollment. If you are not enrolled full-time, or drop below full-time, some of your financial aid awards may be prorated based on the number of units in which you are enrolled.
