Art (BA in Art with Option in Studio Art and all Department of Art BFA options)
To be considered for upper-division admission to the BA in Art with Option in Studio Art or any of the Department of Art BFA options, applicants must demonstrate the following:

Athletic Training
To be considered for upper-division admission to the Bachelor of Science degree major program in Athletic Training, applicants must demonstrate the following:

- Applicants must have completed a minimum of 150 hours of athletic training experience. At least 100 of these hours must be attained by participation in a traditional athletic training setting under the supervision of a NATABOC-certified athletic trainer. A maximum of 50 of these hours may be attained in an allied clinical setting, such as sports medicine clinics, summer sports camps, sports performance facilities, hospital facilities, or dance performance centers.
- Applicants must show proof of current First Aid certification, Emergency Cardiac Care (ECC) certification that includes the following: Adult and Pediatric CPR, AED, 2nd Rescuer CPR, Airway Obstruction, Barrier Devices (e.g., pocket mask, bag valve mask). Examples of courses that provide the above ECC certifications are: CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer through American Red Cross or BLS Health Care Provider through the American Heart Association.
- Applicants must submit a supplemental application to the CSULB Department of Kinesiology by February 1 for the fall semester or by October 1 for the spring semester. See the CSULB Department of Kinesiology website for the supplemental application. The supplemental application must be accompanied by three letters of recommendation; one letter must be from the athletic training setting noted above.

Biology - All options including Microbiology
To be considered for upper-division admission to Biology, applicants must demonstrate the following:
- Applicants must have a minimum 2.0 GPA in the chemistry and math courses listed below and complete each of the following lower-division courses or articulated equivalents with a minimum grade of "C":

Communicative Disorders
To be considered for upper-division admission to Department of Communicative Disorders, applicants must demonstrate the following:

Nursing (Basic)
To be considered for upper-division admission to Nursing (Basic), applicants must demonstrate the following:
Applicants must have met requirements for admission to the university as a freshman or upper division transfer student. In addition, Nursing is one of the few campus programs that may accept lower-division transfer applicants. All applicants must meet the supplemental admission criteria described below:

Natural Sciences
- Human Anatomy (Biol 208) Lecture and Lab – 4 semester units minimum
- Human Physiology (Biol 207) Lecture and Lab – 4 semester units minimum
- Microbiology (Micro 200) Lecture and Lab – 4 semester units minimum
- Chemistry 140 – 5 semester units minimum (or an equivalent 5 unit integrated chemistry course with lab)
- Applicants must have completed the following lower-division courses or articulated equivalents with a minimum 3.0 GPA and each with a minimum grade of "C":

- Candidates must complete a General Assessment Test and should contact the department to learn how to take the Test.
In reviewing applications, a personal profile is developed for each applicant based on GPA in pre-requisite courses and the General Assessment Test. The largest weight in the profile is derived from the pre-requisite science courses GPA, with typical GPAs for these courses being 3.25 or higher and no grades below a “C”. Candidates with the highest profile scores are selected for admission. The number of applicants who can be admitted is limited by space availability. It is anticipated that about 72 students will be admitted each Fall and Spring term from hundreds of applications.
Psychology
To be considered for upper-division admission to Psychology, applicants must demonstrate the following:

Social Work
To be considered for upper-division admission to Social Work, applicants must demonstrate the following:

- a course in elementary statistics such as HDEV 250, STAT 108, PSY 210, or SOC 250

- Mathematics if the elementary statistics course is not an approved GE course
- Applicants must submit a supplemental application to the department by the third Friday in February for the upcoming fall semester. The application includes statements of biographical and educational background and a description of community and/or social work experience. In addition, each applicant must submit two letters of reference, one academic and one professional. The number of applicants who can be admitted is limited by space availability.
