Career and Professional Development

Leadership and Diversity offers professional development events and workshops that include mock interviews, resume and job fair preparation, interviewing skills, and strategies for finding part-time, full-time and summer employment. Professional development workshops are facilitated by the Leadership and Diversity coordinators, industry representatives, and Career Development Center staff. Job/Internship Resources

Leadership and Diversity’s office is a beneficial resource to all College of Engineering students. With information on available internship/job listings, students of all class levels and engineering disciplines can benefit from Leadership and Diversity’s compiled resources. Coordinators can also discuss your career interests and areas for professional improvement. They are available to provide valuable review of resumes, internship/job applications, and interview strategies. Contact the office to make an appointment or speak to a coordinator.

Professional Development Workshops

Making connections to industry representatives is an important part of being a successful engineering student at CSULB. The office of Leadership and Diversity encourages networking between students and industries around the area by inviting industry representatives to lead career and professional development workshops for engineering students. Industry representatives from companies such as Northrop Grumman and Southern California Edison have facilitated workshops specifically for College of Engineering students on resume building and internship/job searching.

Mock Interviews

The College of Engineering mock interviews which are held each spring semester is a great opportunity to develop interviewing and networking skills with engineering industries. With over 20 engineering companies represented at this event, the mock interviews are great for expanding students’ connection s and improving their chances for securing an internship or job in the future. Career Development Center

The CSULB Career Development Center is an essential service for students to utilize. The center offers valuable events including workshops, job fairs, and an extensive job search database. BeachLINK also provides students the opportunity to find full/part time, on/off campus jobs/internships. The CDC offers career counseling and general advice to help you search for internships/jobs relevant to your career goals. Visit the Career Development Center for more information.
