CSULB Students Shine at AIAA Student Conference

A team of CSULB aerospace engineering students comprised of Faisal M. Buharie and Samir Mohamed placed second in the AIAA 2008 Region VI Student Conference held at Arizona State University, Phoenix on the 17th through 19th of April 2008 in the undergraduate category. Faisal M. Buharie and Samir Mohamed presented their development of A New Wind Sensor for Rocket Launches. This sensor is to be used during rocket launches in order to measure the prevalent wind at altitude. Oscar Mejia, another undergraduate student in aerospace engineering at CSULB, presented his titled Trajectory Simulation for CSULB Sounding Rockets.

The CSULB team also received an Outstanding Contribution Award from AIAA for their exemplary behavior and help towards others - including competitors - during the conference.

The CSULB team was led by advisors Dr. Janet Hoult and Mr. Charles Hoult who have been volunteering their time in support of the students and AIAA.
