What is Research?

Research aims to explain, predict or rationalize natural and societal phenomena. Conducting research is a way to work with a professor and his research team and immerse yourself in the study of a particular sub-discipline because you love it, and you want to learn more about it.

Why Do Research?

Research is an immersive experience that helps define your interests, and talents, and can determine what career path you may wish to follow. Research also develops your technical and critical thinking skills as well as strategies for problem solving.

Research provides you with an insight of what it entails to be an active scientist or mathematician or educator. In conducting original research in a professor's lab, you learn the excitement of discovery, the intrinsic value in creating new knowledge, the importance of publishing that knowledge, and how presenting that scholarly work advances the fields of Mathematics and Science.
