Chemical Hygiene Plan

The CNSM Chemical Hygiene Plan is also available as a 3-ring binder kept at the CNSM Science Safety Office, MIC-207.

The College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics (CNSM) Chemical Hygiene Plan (CHP) has been designed to fulfill the Cal/OSHA requirement regarding "Occupational Exposure to Hazardous Chemicals in Laboratories", California Code of Regulations (CCR), Title 8, General Industry Safety Orders, Section 5191. These regulations mandate that where hazardous chemicals are used in the workplace, the employer shall develop and carry out the provisions of a written CHP which is:

  1. Capable of protecting employees from the health hazards present in the workplace
  2. Capable of keeping exposures below Cal/OSHA-regulated limits
  3. Readily accessible to employees
  4. Reviewed annually and updated as appropriate

The current CNSM Chemical Hygiene Officers are Chris Frost and Jessica Lyon of the CNSM Science Safety Office.
