2nd Annual College of Health and Human Services Wellness Week – April 8 to 12, 2013

Fit for Life: Healthy Lifestyles Through Nutrition and Fitness”

The CSULB College of Health & Human Services (CHHS) vision is to become nationally and internationally recognized as an innovator and leader in community connections, the discovery of knowledge, and for educating diverse students in the health and human services professions.  In keeping the College’s mission to Connect – Discover – Educate the second annual WELLNESS WEEK is being celebrated April 8-12, 2013 with campus wide participation in various activities. This year’s theme is “Fit for Life: Healthy Lifestyles Through Nutrition and Fitness” and involvement by the university’s students, faculty, staff, alumni, friends, supporters and the greater Long Beach Community is encouraged.

WELLNESS WEEK is primarily a student-run event that was designed to further promote greater community connections with the University. The week’s itinerary includes outdoor demonstrations, displays and the opportunity to connect with CSULB students and others who serve the community. Friendship Walk and lawn areas just outside the HHS1 building will host a variety of displays and activities aimed to discover, educate, promote, and inspire healthy behavior and lifestyles through nutrition and fitness. In addition, the LifeFit Center @ The Beach will host special workshops and demonstrations.

The signature event of WELLNESS WEEK is the Donald P. Lauda Wellness Lecture on Monday evening, April 8, which was established to bring knowledge to the university community through an innovative series of presentations by renowned experts in mental, physical, and spiritual health.  The lecture is held in a campus landmark building, the Walter Pyramid. For over a decade the Lauda Wellness lecture series draws a wide audience of attendees that includes students, alumni, faculty, and members of local and regional civic and private organizations, as well as friends and supporters of the University.
