Deadline

To Apply for Admission to the CSULB Dietetic Internship

Complete the "Letter of Intent" and fax to (562) 985-4414 or mail to Dr. Frank at the address below as soon as you are certain you will apply to CSULB. This "Letter of Intent" is usually sent to Dariella Gaete, MS, RD, Acting DI Director in the fall before formally applying. (Dr. Frank is on sabbatical fall 2012-summer 2013)

During submission to DICAS, earlier deadlines for application to the Dietetic Internship, the Graduate Program and the University must be followed.

Applying is a 4-step process.

  • Step 1: Apply for admission into the Graduate program by February 1st
  • Step 2: Apply for admission into the University
  • Step 3: Apply by February 1st to the CSULB Dietetic Internship
  • Step 4: Follow DICAS and D&D Digital timelines and submit all materials accordingly

The two unique CSULB DI sheets are found below. Open, complete and return by February 1st to the CSULB DI Director.

The two required, unique pages for CSULB:

  1. GPA Sheet
  2. Work Experience Sheet

Send the unique forms with a check made payable to "California State University Long Beach" for $45.00 (non-refundable), postmarked on or before February 1st, to Dariella Gaete at the address above.

 

To Apply for Admission to the M.S. in Nutritional Science Graduate Program

Submit a separate set of original materials to the Family and Consumer Sciences Graduate Coordinator by FEBRUARY 1st which includes the following:

  1. A photocopy of the University application form for graduate study for the appropriate year.
  2. Three letters of recommendation (two of which must be from professors familiar with your undergraduate work; the third may be from another professor or may be from a member of the community familiar with your professional and intellectual qualities.) Each reference must comment on your ability to pursue graduate work. You can use the same recommendation form for the M.S. Program that you used for the Dietetic Internship. For efficiency, please request 2 original signed copies of each recommendation form from each reference for your applications.
  3. If appropriate, a TOEFL score reaching or exceeding 550 total.
  4. Graduate Record Examination (GRE) within the past 5 years with scores for verbal and quantitative sections and a 4 or higher on analytical writing.

NOTE: General University criteria include a G.P.A. of at least 2.5 (4.0 scale) for the last 60 units of upper division undergraduate coursework completed. G.P.A. requirements for the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences are higher than general University requirements: A G.P.A. of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is required for the last 60 units of upper division coursework.

A completed packet includes:

  1. A University application form (original) for graduate study for the appropriate year.
  2. Official transcripts of all undergraduate coursework.
  3. $65.00 as a non-refundable application fee (but check as this may have increased).
