The Child and Family Center Is Accredited by NAEYC

The Child and Family Center at California State University, Long Beach has gained accreditation from the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). The Center has been accredited since 1993. NAEYC is the nation’s leading organization of early childhood professionals. Accreditation demonstrates a commitment to provide a high quality program for young children and their families.

The CSULB Child and Family Center successfully completed the two year process to receive accreditation which involved a review of every aspect of the program. Accreditation criteria include interactions among teachers and children, curriculum, relationships among teachers and families, staff qualifications and professional development, physical environment, health and safety, and nutrition and food service.

Accreditation is granted for a five year period.

The National Association for the Education of Young Children administers a national, voluntary, professionally sponsored accreditation system to help raise the quality of preschools, kindergartens, and child care programs. There are currently about 8,000 NAEYC-accredited programs.
