Scholarships and Awards
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT AWARD
This award recognizes one exceptional student who has exhibited significant personal, academic and/or professional development in the past year. The recipient will receive an award of at least $500.
Criteria and Application Information:
- An active participant in one of the following SCPD Programs City Leadership, Community Scholars and Corporate Mentoring Program in good standing
- Overall GPA 2.5
- The essay should address the following:
“Tell us how you have served the community (both on and off campus). Please provide specific examples
of what you have done and what you have learned.”
Format: 2-3 pages, double spaced, 12 point font, Times New Roman, 1” margins
- Please submit the following materials: Application Form, Resume, Cover Letter, One Letter of Recommendation and an Essay.
ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
This award recognizes one exceptional student who has exhibited academic excellence in the College of Business Administration. The recipient will receive an ward of at least $500.
Criteria and Application Information:
- Any current SCPD student in good standing
- Minimum Major GPA 3.0
- The essay should address the following:
“What has motivated you to achieve academic success? How have these values affected your beliefs & actions?
Format: 2-3 pages, double spaces, 12 point font, Times New Roman, 1” margins
- Please submit the following materials: completed Application Form, Resume, Cover Letter, Essay, and One Letter of Recommendation
PROFESSIONAL EXCELLENCE AWARD
This award recognizes one or two exceptional students who most effectively displays through presentation their personal, academic, and professional development over the past year. The recipient(s) will receive an award of at least $500.
Criteria and Application Information:
- An active participant in one of the following SCPD Programs: Business Excellence Certificate,City Leadership, Community Scholars, Corporate Mentoring Program or Emerging Leaders. The applicant must be in good standing with their program.
- Overall GPA 2.5
- Please submit the following materials: Application Form, Resume & Cover Letter, and powerpoint presentation.
- Showcase PowerPoint Presentation on April 20th
Presentation Specifics:
- The presentation should address the following question:
“The Ideal Business Professional-- How has your involvement with SCPD increased your professionalism?
- 7-10 minute PowerPoint presentation
- Panel will consist of SCPD staff and SCPD Advisory Board Members.

FEI SCHOLARSHIPS
SCPD, in partnership with Financial Executives International (FEI), this award recognizes two exceptional students in Finance & Accounting who demonstrate how FEI values apply to their personal and professional life. Each recipient will receive an award of at least $500.
Criteria and Application Information:
- Any SCPD student in good standing
- Overall cumulative GPA of 2.5
- The essay should address the following:
“Tell us how you apply the following FEI ideas of Networking, Knowledge, Advocacy, & Ethical Leadership to your personal and professional life. Please provide specific examples of what you have done and/or what you have learned.”
Format: 2-4 pages, double spaced, 12 point font, Times New Roman, Arial or Calibri, 1” margins
- Please submit the following materials: Completed Application Form, Resume, Cover Letter, & Essay
- Scholarship recipients need to attend the FEI-Orange County's Dinner Meeting. Date TBA.
* LEADERSHIP IN ACTION AWARD
This award recognizes 1-2 exceptional students for their contributions and service to the Student Center for Professional Development, the College of Business Administration (CBA), California State University, Long Beach and/or the community. The recipient will receive a plaque and a certificate signed by the CBA Dean. *This award will be selected by the SCPD staff.
Criteria Information:
- An SCPD student & Senior CBA student Applicant must be in good standing with SCPD program
- Demonstrated leadership skills through service and co-curricular activities
