What are the MBA programs offered at Cal State Long Beach?
The 23-month fast-track Fully Employed MBA (FEMBA) program. The self paced Evening MBA program, which can be either part-time or full-time and the Accelerated MBA which can be completed in one year.
What is the Evening MBA Program at Cal State Long Beach?
A self-paced program designed for either part-time or full-time students. This is a fully accredited degree (AACSB International, WASC) with over twenty-five years of MBA graduate alumni. All courses are presented in late afternoon or evening classes with fifteen-week semesters, and many students have work experience.
Who are typical Evening MBA students?
Thirty percent of Evening MBA students are international students. Average age of Evening students is 27. Women represent approximately 55% of Evening MBA students. Many students choose to enroll immediately after receiving their undergraduate degree.
What are the areas of Specialization?
Three approved electives must be completed in one area of specialization. Specializations are Accountancy, Health Care Management, Information Systems, Finance, Human Resources Management, Marketing and General Management (three approved electives from three different disciplines).
What if I don't have an undergraduate degree in Business Administration?
Less than thirty percent of MBA applicants have an undergraduate degree in business. If you don't have an undergraduate business degree you will complete the prerequisite courses which are already included in the MBA program.
Where and When are classes held?
All classes are held at the College of Business Administration on weekday afternoons or evenings
How long will it take to complete my MBA?
Many students are able to graduate in three to four years as part-time students and one and a half to two years as full-time students. Summer session classes are also offered to speed up the process.
How often are students admitted? What are the application deadlines?
Students are admitted for Fall and Spring semesters. The deadline for Fall application is March 30th. The deadline for Spring application is October 30th.
What are the details of the curriculum?
The Masters curriculum is only 48 units which includes a Capstone course taken at the end. No Masters thesis is required. The Economics requirement may be fulfilled if taken as an undergraduate.
Who teaches the MBA courses?
All instructors in the MBA Program are from the faculty of the College of Business Administration
What about courses I've completed at another MBA program?
Some students start their MBA program somewhere else and transfer to Cal State Long Beach. If you have started an MBA program we will evaluate all course work from an accredited (AACSB International) graduate school and will transfer a maximum of 2 courses (6 semester units).
What about my undergraduate Businesses courses?
If your undergraduate business degree is less than 10 years old and if your school was accredited (by AACSB International) we MAY waive as many as four specific first-year courses. All transcripts are automatically evaluated prior to admission.
How much work experience do I need?
There is no minimum work experience required for admission. Nevertheless, work experience is recommended so that students are able to receive full benefit from their class work.
What are my tuition costs?
California Resident: Part time (up to 6 units per semester) = $1,261. Full time (more than 6 units per semester = $2,050. If you are not a resident of California, or if you are an International student, you must add $339 to the above totals for each unit of credit you take. Fees are subject to change based on the CSU and the State of California.
This amount does not include, books, computers, course materials, parking, food, etc. The international admissions office requires a financial guarantee of $27,000 per year for graduate students. There is no financial aid for international students offered from CSULB.
What materials are needed to complete my application?
GMAT (taken within last 5 years) Two copies of undergraduate transcripts, Two letters of recommendation from professional associates, Statement of Purpose, TOEFL ( for international students), separate MBA Program application, university application. How do I apply?
Fill out the Evening MBA application form. Also, fill out the University application form or apply online at www.csumentor.edu. Attach a $55 check or money order made out to "CSULB" to the University application form. Follow the application materials check-lists under your appropriate application category (Domestic or International), and return the application materials to the appropriate offices at CSULB, 1250 Bellflower Blvd. , Long Beach , CA 90840 .
