Ingrid Aall, professor emerita of art, had her book, The Multicultural Challenge: A Visual-Cultural Guide to Coping in the Global Era, published in April by South Asian Studies Association.

George DemosGeorge Demos, professor emeritus of counseling psychology, received The Order of the Knights of Rizal knighthood on June 17 at the Filipino-American Cultural Center for his service to his country and community.

, professor emerita of art, authored The Art of Creativity, which is now available as a digital audio book.

Brian Finney, professor emeritus of English, has published an e-book titled, Terrorized: How the War on Terror Affected American Culture and Society (2011).

Howard Hitchcock

Howard Hitchcock, professor emeritus of art, had an exhibit of his artwork during July at the Anderson Art Gallery in Sunset Beach, Calif.

Gerald Locklin, professor emeritus of English, was interviewed by the website SpikeMagazine.com in August.

Ing Ortwin Ohtmer, professor emeritus of mechanical and aerospace engineering, presented his book, Finite Element Methods I (Volume I), at the annual Siemens PLM NX Software Conference in Las Vegas, Nev., in May. 

Warner Olsen, Jr., librarian emeritus, had his composition, “Frozen Music: A Portrait of a Korean Pagoda,” performed by the Evening Wind Symphony of Long Beach City College in May. 

Arnold T. SchwabArnold T. Schwab, professor emeritus of English, has published his poem, “Let Her Go,” online. “Let Her Go” deals with Cal Rodgers's first intercontinental flight from New York to Long Beach  in 1911, the 100th anniversary of which is being celebrated in Long Beach.

 

 

Soula ThomasSoula Thomas, staff emerita of the Speech and Hearing Clinic, Department of Communicative Disorders, and School of Humanities dean’s office, won a gold medal in the 5,000-meter racewalk for women (85 and older) from the World Masters Athletics Championships in Sacramento, Calif., held on July 6-17.
