EMERITI NOTES

Professor emeriti Jana Echevarria, educational psychology and administration, and Mary Ellen Vogt, teacher education, had their book Response to Intervention (RTI) and English Learners: Making It Happen published by Pearson Education, Inc. (Allyn & Bacon) in July.

Gerald Locklin, professor emeritus of English, had his poem “Un Bel Di” broadcast as part of Garrison Keillor’s Writer’s Almanac radio program on March 2. An archive of the program is available via American Public Media at http://writersalmanac.publicradio.org. Also, Locklin has published, via Lummox Press, Modest Aspirations, a new collection of poems (with short stories by Beth Wilson). Locklin and his poetry are featured in a book titled Gerald Locklin: A Critical Introduction, edited by Michael Basinski and published by BlazeVOX Press. A play, Toad Poems, co-authored by George Carroll, ran June 22-27 at the Etcetera Theatre in Camden, England.

Shirley ManginiShirley Mangini, professor emerita of romance, German, Russian languages & literature, had her book Maruja Mallo and the Spanish Avant-Garde published in June by the Ashgate Publishing Group.

John McConnellJohn McConnell, professor emeritus of physical education, former associate dean of the Applied Arts and Sciences Department and CSULB’s first baseball coach, had his book Cooperstown by the Numbers: An Analysis of Baseball Hall of Fame Elections published by McFarland and Company in May. McConnell is 86.

 

Norma TarrowNorma Tarrow, professor emerita of teacher education, published the article “Human Rights and Education: The Case of the Negev Bedouins” in the refereed social science journal Hagar: Studies in Culture, Polity and Identities, 8 (2) 2008. The volume is designated a Special Issue: Bedouin- Arab Society in the Negev/Naqab.

 

Judith Tyner, professor emerita of geography, had a textbook Principles of Map Design published by Guilford in March.
