New Hall of Science Dedicated

A Sept. 23 dedication ceremony attended by campus and local officials, alumni, students and community members officially recognized CSULB’s newest building, the Hall of Science.

The 160,000-square-foot building is one of the largest science buildings in the CSU system and replaced Peterson Hall 3. With 22 research laboratories, 31 teaching laboratories, two 180-seat lecture halls and two 80-seat lecture halls, “This is where CNSM’s vision to combine the teaching-intensive character of a small liberal-arts college with the creative scholarship of a top research university will find its fullest expression,” said Dean Laura Kingsford of the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics.

Cal State Long Beach is one of the top producers among U.S. master’s universities of students who go on to earn doctorates in science and engineering, according to the National Science Foundation.
