My Beach Experience:

My name is Jonathon Bolin. I am majoring in History and Religous Studies and minoring in the Classics. I am currently the ASI Vice President and this is my Beach Experience…

Getting to CSULB:

The Beach was the only University I thought existed when I was little. My Grandma would always drive me by CSULB and say, “There’s the University”. So when I was little I always thought that whenever anyone on TV or in the movies mentioned “college” or “university” they were referring to CSULB. I grew up and saw CSULB as my only option, I didn’t want to go anywhere else.

Taking the Opportunities:

CSULB has completely changed me as a person. I would not be the person I am today without The Beach. I have HUGE BeachPride and I am proud to say I will be a graduate of CSULB! My time here at CSULB was one of extreme involvement and being a student has opened so many doors for me it is hard to choose which one to walk through!

My Beach Beyond The Beach:

I plan to continue here at CSULB in the Master of Public Administration (MPA) program. Eventually I want to become a University administrator (Dean of Students, VP of Student Services, etc.) I have made such great friends and connections here I know that The Beach will never leave my mind! You will probably see me around campus for at least a couple more years!

Favorites

Favorite Class: I have loved too many classes to name a ‘favorite’ however Christian Origins was life changing.

Favorite Professor: My favorite professor on campus is Dr. Ron Dubay in Religious Studies. Dr. Dubay has changed my life with his unconventional teaching style and life-advice/mentorship. He is a good friend.

Favorite Spot on Campus: I have spent most of my time in FO2, the History Department. Or the library 5th floor (beautiful sunsets).

Activities and Organizations: I have been involved in the HSA (history students association), Leadership Academy, O-team, RSSA (Religious Studies Student Association), Phi Beta Kappa, SOAR advising, Learning Alliance Peer Mentorship Program, ASI Vice-President/Chairman of the Board, Union Weekly contributor, 49er Shops Board of Directors, CSSA Liaison to the State-wide Academic Senate. (California State Student Association), and the list goes on…
